We know you might have a few questions about visiting Lakemoor, so we have compiled a list of frequently asked questions below. If you don’t find the answers you are looking for, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Can I get to Lakemoor by train?
Eggesford Train station is just a 2 minute drive away from us. Contact us in advance with arrival time and we will be happy to collect you.
Where are you?
You will find us on the A377 – Lakemoor, EX18 7JY.
From Exeter direction, we are shortly on the left past the Fox and Hound Hotel. Your satnav will take you to the property before us (Twin Oaks/Ford Farm), but please keep going until you see our Lakemoor Devon sign (logo below), our entrance is immediately off the A377, NOT down a lane. If you are arriving in the dark, look for a tree lit up by a green light.

If you are coming from Barnstaple, continue on the A377 past the Chulmleigh turning on your left, and keep going until you see two cottages opposite each other, we are the one on your right, your Satnav should direct you correctly.

Is there a minimum night stay?
At some times of the year there is a 2 night minimum night stay in Glamping accommodation only.
Can I book the whole campsite?
YES – Please see our section headed Whole Site Bookings for details and prices. Please email us at info@lakemoordevon.co.uk to discuss your requirements.
Can I pay by card on arrival?
Our site is cash only
Can I bring a campervan, caravan or trailer tent?
Yes, we have 5 hard standings. Four have electric hook-up. The Camping field is for tents only (no trailer tents)
Can I bring a large tent?
The grass area next to each hard standing is 7m x 6m in size, in our camping field we do not restrict pitch size. Gives us a call 01769 580667 I am sure we have an option to suit you.

Can I park my car next to my tent pitch?
We like to keep cars separate from our campers, to ensure everyone has the best and safest experience at Lakemoor. If you would like to pitch next to your car, please book a hard standing with a grass pitch.
Can I bring more than one car?
You can bring a maximum of two cars, there is a £5 charge for the additional car per booking, this can be added at the time of booking.
Can I bring my Campervan and a car?
You can bring a maximum of one additional car, there is a £5 charge for the duration of your stay, this can be added at the time of booking.
Do you accept Car Camping?
Yes we do, the maximum length of the hardstanding is 7m, so please be aware of this if you have a awning that connects to the rear of your car.
Can I bring my pet?
We welcome fury friends, pets must be kept under control and on a lead at ALL times at Lakemoor. They are not to be left in your accommodation (tent, campervan, glamping unit etc), or car whilst you are off site. We do not charge for pets unless you are Glamping. We do allow a maximum of 2 pets in The Cabin and The Pyrapod, please add them to your booking.
Can I bring a porta-loo?
Porta-loo disposal is only available if using Eco Green Loo liquid (we sell this onsite).
Can I play music?
Yes, but please respect your fellow campers, quiet time is 23:00-08:00
Can I camp with friends in a group?
We welcome family groups. Please let us know if you would like to be situated near a pitch on another booking, and we will accommodate wherever possible. Please remember quiet time is from 11pm until 8am. We reserve the right to ask you to leave if this is not respected.
Can I light a campfire or barbecue?
Campfires are allowed but please take extra care and only use the Fire pits provided and BBq’s must be off the ground. NEVER take a BBQ into your accommodation. Logs/BBQ coals are available from the Lakemoor shop. Please do not break off tree branches to use or enter the private forest that is alongside the River Field. We may decide at short notice that firepits and BBQs are not allowed when we have a long period of hot weather, as advised by Fire & Rescue.
Can I reserve a specific pitch?
You can select a hardstanding pitch but pitches in the camping field are allocated on day of arrival on first come first served basis. However, if booking a group booking we will hold part of the Camping field for you to use.
How Can I Book?
Please go use our online booking system. Or, call 01769 580667 or email me at info@lakemoordevon.co.uk. We aim to respond with 24 hours to confirm availability. Same day bookings just call or email us and you can pay cash on arrival.
What facilities are available?
Parking (space is limited so please only bring one car), fresh water from our Borehole, Electric Hook-Ups, composting toilets, a flushing toilet, lovely hot showers and washing-up facilities. Our on-site shop sells essentials including, logs and BBQ coal and produce from our smallholding. We also offer firepit Hire. In the camping field there are picnic benches and there is an undercover seating area with a communal BBQ and Firepit.
Can I paddle board/swim in the lake?
The fishing lake is not suitable for paddle boarding, swimming etc. This is only available for our Glamping guest to use for fishing.
Can I paddleboard/swim in the river?
Yes! The River Taw is right next to our camping field, and is available to all our guests.
What fish do you have in the fishing lake and can anyone fish?
We have Grass Carp, Crucian Carp and Mirror Carp, they have been in the lake since beginning of 2024. Only guests staying in the glamping accommodation around the lake can fish here. However it is worth asking Claire or Justin, as this is possible if there is no one in the glamping units during change over.
What bedding is included in the Glamping accommodation?
We are an eco site, and have lots of one night stays therefore we do not provide any bedding or towels. We do provide a mattress cover.
Is Glamping adult only?
Yes. Our glamping units are situated around our peaceful fishing lake, making this area best suited to adults seeking a quiet and relaxing stay.
However, if you have a child who enjoys fishing and you feel they would appreciate this tranquil setting, please get in touch. We’ll be happy to discuss your requirements and see if we can accommodate you.

Do you allow day visitors?
We do allow day visitors but due to restricted parking we need to be informed beforehand.
Can I order food to be delivered?
You can order a supermarket delivery, please ensure you are at the entrance gate to receive the delivery. Due to our location, fast food companies i.e. Deliveroo, do not deliver to our site. Chulmleigh Tandoori Restaurant Chulmleigh Tandoori Restaurant,Chulmleightandoori, Indian Restaurant and takeaway 01769 580797, will deliver to us.
Where is your closest supermarket?
There is a Spar in Lapford which is a 7 minute drive, which has a good selection of food etc. The closest Sainsburys is in South Molton, Tesco is Crediton and all other Superstores are in Barnstaple. There is a large Tesco next to Barnstaple Train Station, which you can get to from Eggesford train station, which is just a 5 minute walk from us.
I’m going to a wedding at the Fox & Hound how far is this?
It is less than a minute drive, or you can walk it in 5 minutes.
I’m going to a wedding Chawleigh Week Mill how far is this?
This is about a 3 minute drive, it is not walkable unfortunately.
