2021 was an extremely busy year for us, hence not having any time to write an update on how the year was going.

For us personally we extended our house, started a new job, youngest daughter started a new school, eldest daughter got married and amongst all that we started a new business…

With lockdowns on and off we were unsure as to whether we would actually open in 2021 and even if we did, would anyone come!

So, when we finally found the courage to open up availability, we were pleasantly surprised by the number of bookings we received.

And true to form Lakemoor didn’t disappoint, the first night of the season there was the most beautiful pink sunset, and after a hectic first day checking everyone in, it was the perfect end to a very busy day.

We met some very interesting people, a lady who had transformed a fire engine into a campervan, a gentleman who travelled round Europe on his motorbike with his dog. Foster parents on well-earned breaks and a lady who trekked across the moors with her two horses.

The river was fully utilised with kayaking, paddle boarding and swimming, and the chickens, geese, goslings and goats were a definite hit with children and adults.

Lakemoor was created for sharing, it came alive with wildlife and new friendships, and in the evening the flickering flames from the firepits and the star filled sky made it magical.

And then as quick as it had begun the summer season was over, and we were left to reflect on what an amazing first year we have had, all the things we learnt and the people we met.

Now it was our turn to see what Devon had to share with our visitors – Appledore, Westward Ho! sea pool, Babbacombe Model Village and Clovelly waterfall, that is just a few of the wonderful places around.

So, 2022 is here and we are ready to welcome you to Lakemoor from April, where you can experience Lakemoor in spring which is alive with wild garlic (one of my favourite photos of Lakemoor).
